District Cubmobile Derby

What do you have when you make a Pinewood Derby car big enough for a Scout to sit in? A Cubmobile!

The district is holding the second annual Cubmobile Derby on Saturday May 4, 2012 at Bolen Park.

Dens will race as teams with a minimum of three and a maximum of five Scouts per team. Dens with six or more Scouts participating will need to register as two or more teams. Every Scout on a team will be given a chance to race their cubmobile down the course.

Teams from the same pack will be allowed to use the same cubmobile if they want to. Cubmobiles built for last year’s derby may be used again this year.

Derby fee is $6 per Scout and all teams must pre-register with an $18 deposit (i.e, the fee for three Scouts).

The rules will be the same as last year, with one exception. Previously, General Rule #4 said no guide ropes were allowed. This year guide ropes are allowed. Though they really aren’t used for steering they do help give the Scouts a “comfort” feeling that helps come some of their anxiety.

The rules and design package is attached to this page below.

Goose Creek District still needs some adult volunteers to help run the event. If you would like to be a volunteer please send an email to GCCubEvent@verizon.net.

Pack 1483's Cubmobile Race Coordinator is Steve Moriak (steve@moriak.net). If your den is interested in participating contact Steve today!
