Community Relationships

Pack 1483 participates in the Scouting for Food Program and other charitable service projects.

Started in 1988, the Scouting for Food service project is one of Scouting’s most important “Good Turns” for the community. The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of the National Capital Area Council (NCAC) are responding to the ever increasing demand for basic needs assistance by collecting and delivering nonperishable food items to area food banks and feeding programs. Visit our Scouting for Food page.

Pack 1483 participates in two annual fund raising/giving campaigns: Popcorn Sales and Friends of Scouting.

Popcorn Sales are the Pack's primary fund raising activity. Popcorn enables our unit to do the things we want without having to do lots of fund raisers. This is an officially approved council unit money-earning project that many packs and troops participate in each year. Approximately 30% of the sales go directly to the Pack. Sales take place from late August until December. Visit our Popcorn Sales page for more information.

The Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign is conducted annually among the parents of Scouts, Scout volunteer leadership and the communities in which Scouting is located. Families and Scout volunteers are the first to see the benefit of Scouting for youth and local communities often benefit through Scout service projects. District and unit volunteers conduct the FOS campaign to give everyone the opportunity to support and grow the local Scouting program. This giving campaing takes place in February coincident with the Blue & Gold Banquet.
