Popcorn Sales

Popcorn Sales are Pack 1483's primary fundraising activity. Popcorn enables our unit to deliver a top notch program. This is an officially approved council unit money-earning project that many packs and troops participate in each year. Sales take place from late August until November.

The Pack's typical profit from popcorn sales is approximately 30-35%. Approximately half of our Pack profits are set aside for those scouts who sold popcorn to use for Summer Camps.

For the last five years, the pack averages $30,000 of popcorn sales of which $5,000 is in military donations.

At the completion of our annual sales campaigns, Pack 1483 delivers some holiday cheer to local soldiers and their families. We deliver from $1,500 to $5,000 in popcorn to soldiers passing through the USO at Dulles Airport or to Operation Homefront of Ashburn. In 2011, the soldiers were on the way home from Afghanistan for the holidays or flying off to faraway destinations around the world. In 2012, we delivered $5,000 in popcorn to Operation Homefront of Ashburn to be included in family care packages. The popcorn was bought from our own inventory using the military donations collected during the fundraiser.
